FAQs about Delivery for Satellite Imagery Annotation

Quick answers to common questions.

What types of geospatial data can I annotate?

Building footprints, road networks, land use and land cover, object detection for vehicles, ships, and aircraft, and change detection — across satellite, aerial, and drone imagery. We scope the task types with you at kickoff and return output as GeoJSON, shapefiles, or your own schema.

Can annotators use ArcGIS or QGIS?

Yes. Our teams work inside your tools — ArcGIS, QGIS, CVAT, Label Studio, V7, or your internal pipeline. You control access and permissions, and your imagery never leaves your systems.

How do you handle large datasets and security?

Delivery runs inside your environment under SOC 2-aligned controls, with NDAs signed before access and clean-room setups available for sensitive imagery. Large datasets are worked in batches with QA sampling on every batch, so quality holds as volume scales.

Do you have experts for SAR or multispectral imagery?

Yes — our teams annotate optical, SAR, hyperspectral, multispectral, and drone imagery. For specialised sensors we run custom screening so only annotators with relevant remote-sensing experience join your project, and we calibrate on a pilot batch before scaling.

What is the pricing structure?

Cost-plus and transparent: you see the annotator rates and we add a small fixed fee on top. We quote per polygon, per tile, or per hour depending on the task, and the price is agreed before delivery starts — no hidden costs.

Do you offer managed services for large mapping projects?

Yes. For continuous or large-volume mapping we run the whole programme end to end — staffing, tooling, QA loops, and weekly reporting — inside your environment. Typical ramp from kickoff to full production is about two weeks.

FAQ

Working with us

How soon can satellite imagery annotation work start?

Typically within a week or two of a scope being agreed. The first delivery is deliberately a small batch so you can check the output against your expectations before volume ramps.

What do you need from our team?

One process owner who knows the workflow, one engineer with access to the systems involved, and a weekly 45-minute review. No standing committee, and no requirement for an ML specialist on your side.

Who owns the output and the data?

You do. Datasets, labels, weights, evaluation suites and runbooks are yours and are handed over at the end. Your data trains your models only, with zero-retention provider settings by default.

Can you scale volume up quickly if we need it?

Yes, and the quality bar holds because the rubric and gold set are already agreed by that point. Ramping is a staffing question, not a re-scoping one, so it usually takes days rather than a new engagement.

We already have a vendor for this. Why switch?

Often you should not. The cases where teams move to us are when they cannot get a quality number out of their current vendor, or when the work is delivered as an opaque batch with no trace of how disagreements were resolved.

What happens after the engagement ends?

We stay on-call for 30 days at no extra cost, then move to an optional support retainer. Most teams also keep a quarterly evaluation review with us to catch drift early.
